Today (16 March 2024) our Judo coaches, Toni Edkins, Brent Rickards, and Andrew Wright, dedicated their day to renewing their coaching skills in a special training course. Guided by Ross Kiepe, they refreshed their knowledge and honed their teaching techniques.
Townsville Judo Club coaches Andrew Wright, Toni Edkins and Brent Rickards with Ross Kiepe (back) at the Coaching Accreditation Framework session on Saturday 16 March, 2024.
The day kicked off with practical exercises, focusing on safety by conducting Risk Assessments for the training area. The coaches then showcased engaging games and exercises suitable for both kids and adults, reaffirming their ability to cater to all ages.
Transitioning to technical demonstrations, they revisited fundamental moves like throws and grappling techniques. In addition to the physical aspects, they engaged in discussions about coaching strategies and ideas, enriching their understanding of effective teaching methods.
Toni, Brent, and Andrew bring a wealth of experience to the table, with numerous accolades and competitive experience in Judo, both nationally and internationally. Their commitment to safety is underscored by their possession of current first aid and CPR certificates. All Townsville Judo Club coaches hold current Blue Cards.
Following the course, our Senseis are reinvigorated and ready to impart their renewed expertise, ensuring an enriching Judo experience for all students.
Thank you to Ross Kiepe for travelling from Brisbane to facilitate this coaching accreditation session.
